Who is Saara Jokiaho?

I'm a singer/actress/dancer born in 1982, with a height of 158cm and a soprano (d-d3) voice.

I studied Music Theatre for the past four years at the Lahti Institute of Music and Drama (University of Applied sciences) and graduated right before Christmas (2011). Previous to my vocal studies I played the violin for eleven years. I also have a degree in classical singing from the Conservatory of Helsinki. I have taken dance lessons since I was little, style-hopping from African dance, to Street Hip Hop, to Lyrical Jazz.

My next project is The Fiddler on the Roof in Helsinki City Theater.

My previous role in a musical was Beatrice in Rebecca at the Kouvola Theatre. Rebecca is a musical based on the novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. It was written by Michael Kunze (book and lyrics) and Sylvester Levay (music). It played in Kouvola for the 2010-2011 season.

In 2009 I played the role of Maria in West Side Story (Bernstein, Sondheim) in Oulu City Theatre. The role of Tony was played by Heikki Mäkäräinen whom I have also worked with in the one-act musical play Mirjam & Kaj by Maria Vinberg.
